How do I book Nykema for my special event or wedding?

Nykema provides a personalized experience for every client & Brown Beauty Bride-to-be, starting from the moment of the inquiry. As such, a consultation call is required to establish compatibility and discuss your needs for your event. To get started, send Nykema a message via the REQUEST SERVICE tab. You will be contacted within 24 hours to confirm an appointment for a consultation call. Based on the details of your call, personalized package options will be created to meet the needs of your event.

Where are you located?

Our business is based in Houston, TX; however, Nykema provides services both domestically (in the U.S.) and internationally.

Can I book destination services, where the artist will travel to me?

Absolutely! Nykema almost exclusively provides destination services (domestic and international), for special events, weddings & in-person makeup training classes. A daily rate will typically apply each day, and the client will also be responsible for associated travel expenses (i.e., airfare, ground transportation, lodging, etc.).

What is your cancellation/late arrival policy?

Timeliness is important at Nykema Brown Beauty, and we respect each client's time & schedule. Clients who arrive more than 10min late to their appointment will be subject to a $25 late fee. Clients arriving more than 15 min late for their appointment will be subject to appointment cancellation. Cancellation is solely the discretion of the artist & her availability to accommodate the delayed start without infringing on other appointments or obligations.

Can I bring someone with me to my appointment?

Your appointment is an intimate, self-care experience, designed for you to receive personal VIP treatment. As such, no additional guests are permitted to accompany you during your service or class, unless they are also booked for service (i.e., special event, wedding or group class). Since most services or classes are on a schedule, no children are allowed in attendance at all, unless receiving services.

What should I do to prepare for my makeup appointment?

In preparation for your make-up appointment, please follow this skincare regimen: wash, tone and moisturize your face twice daily; gently exfoliate at least 1x/week. Do not exfoliate the morning of your appointment; only wash, tone & moisturize. Please arrive with a clean, moisturized face and groomed brows for your make-up appointment.

What is the difference between conventional and airbrush makeup?

Airbrush is a lightweight makeup applied through an air gun machine that produces a thin, even layer of makeup and creates a very matte finish. Since it’s such a fine mist, the client's true skin shows through which makes it look more natural and not caked on. Airbrush makeup lasts up to 16 hours, won't transfer onto clothing, is waterproof and will not go anywhere until you wash it off. Conventional makeup includes liquid, cream, or pressed powder foundations, usually applied with a sponge, brush or finger tips. It can be applied at various levels of coverage,and/or combined with other properties to target specific problems. Conventional makeup is typically not waterproof, may rub off on clothing and may need occasional touchups throughout the evening.

Are lashes included in my session?

All glam sessions include mink lash application.

What is included in a Consultation and why should I schedule one?

A consultation gives you the opportunity to know exactly how you will look on your special day. The 90-minute session include a discussion with Nykema concerning your desired look, after which she will perform a complete application, including faux lash application. Nykema will work with the client to make adjustments to the look to achieve optimal results.

What if only want to get my eyes done?

To maintain the integrity of her work, Nykema does not offer "eyes only" makeup services. Applying makeup to the eyes only can magnify imperfections around the eye area (such as dark circles, crows feet, etc). However, for those clients who do not typically wear makeup and may be concerned about it "feeling heavy," Nykema is skilled in providing a natural skin finish via both conventional and airbrush makeup services.
